Description
Painted, with permission, from an amazing photograph by Richard Ashbee the morning after a violent gale, which left the usually calm, sheltered harbour with whipped up waves and spray. An acrylic painting on canvas, 60 x 40cm, the painting is framed in a (soft) white frame that complements the colours and gives a contemporary look. Several weeks of work went into the detail in the buildings, only to be painted over with a drybrush technique and thin washes to achieve the look of spray rising from the waves.
My name is Anne Barron and I have worked for 30 years as a professional artist mainly working to portrait commissions of people and animals, and have lived in Shetland since 2007 where I now have a small studio in my garden just above Minn beach in Burra. Shetland has had a big influence on me and my work and in particular the colours I choose when I start to paint. I have also been involved over the years in hosting fundraising exhibitions to raise awareness of wildlife charities, and this has earned me a place as. Signature Member of the Artists for Conservation Website with many of the top wildlife artists worldwide. I am also a Professional Associate of the Society For All Artists, and enjoy teaching and encouraging artists at Beginner & Intermediate levels. I belong to a group of artists called Shetland Fine Arts.
